Merry Christmas, Mr. Reindeer!

Tuesday, Dec. 27th –
Hello again, my Giga-Friends! I hope you’re doing well today! Me? . . . Apathetic to get back to work at the best! Thankfully for me, I had Monday off in observance of Christmas. But, that made today all that much more difficult to wake up for. . . Gonna need me some more of those paid days off. Thank goodness New Years is this week!
I do hope you all had a wonderful holiday though. I was able to talk to my parents and look back and remember all the stuff we did together, and how much we pissed each other off. Ah, such is family! Thankfully for me, my family listens to my stupid rambling and, before you ask: Yes, I explode my nerd-ism all over my family all the time. It paid off because now I know they listen to my crap and they ended up getting me all the available Light Novels of Rise of the Shield Hero for Christmas! I was ecstatic and am itching, even now, to start reading again.
The novel itself, as compared to the manga, is written in the first person. So we get to hear about Naofumi’s thoughts on why he does what he does, and we feel the same pain of betrayal he does as he goes through his many hardships. The writing seems fairly solid, but I haven’t hit a point were I can give a solid opinion on how well the characters come across or how they refernce each other (-san, -chan, etc..). Maybe I’ll do my first “book review” at some point!? *Pops Fancy, High-Brow Collar* Anyway, I’m not too terribly far yet (thanks work!), but I plan on making time in the near future to start and never stop.
NOW ON TO ANIME!
A lot of anime ended this past week and I can honestly say I wasn’t too crazy about much this past season. If I had to choose one, I’d say that obviously Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable takes the cake for best anime. The 2nd to last episode was a gorgeous work of art all on its own. Able to bring sadness, suspense, horror, and awesome fighting all in one amazing episode, this may be my new favorite season of Jojo’s as compared to Battle Tendency (2nd season).
If I had to pick something from this season, it would most likely be Drifters. The show wasn’t “the best thing EVAR!”, but it was a really solid show with amazing art, great comedy, and some fantastically choreographed fight scenes! I really do suggest watching it, purely for the spectacle of the whole thing. It seems popular enough now, even garnering enough steam to get a second season at this point! So 2017 seems like it will be the year of “Season 2”! I’ll try to do a patented review in the next week or so, just in time for New Years!
Anyway, that’s it for me today, Giga-Friends! I hope you have a great day and an even better week! (And an even more amazing New Years!) -J.R
