New Chance Meetings at Old Conventions!

Monday, Apr. 17th –
Hello again, Giga-Landers! Hope you’re doing fat, dumb, and happy on this fine Monday after Easter! Even if you don’t celebrate, I still hope your day was awesome. I know we use it as a day eat ourselves stupid, but there’s a lot more to it than that for some people.
Sorry for the slew of quiteness as well. I’ve been busy posting my mad raving about anime, Steins;Gate in particular, on the main website. So I’ve actually been doing work! . . . For the seven of you who read! . . . I think that number keeps going down. Where is my self-esteem!?
This past weekend I randomly attended a local convention called “Hanadoki Con” held here in San Diego. For some reason, they decided to hold it on Easter weekend, which saw that their numbers dwindled heavily on Sunday, but that’s O.K since I only went on Saturday. I hadn’t planned on going . . . nor did I know it was happening until maybe two or three days ahead of time. But, I used the time to see some old friends, some old enemies, and to waste some money on my adorable Mashu Kyrielight Nendroid!
I can also say that my time was not wasted as I was able to meet the amazing David Vincent on Saturday as well! Amazing English voice actor who voiced such roles as Jin Kisaragi/Hakumen (BlazBlue), the Narrator for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (that’s important to me), and most of all he voiced Gilgamesh (Fate series), my all-time favorite male character. No homo, but I love Gilgamesh, so meeting his voice was really fun. He was also a really nice guy and loved to talk about anime in general as well. It’s always really fun for me at little cons like that to meet really cool people in the business and just talk. Pretty sure I made it weird though. . . Yep, I probably made it weird.
NOW ON TO ANIME!
I’ve finally been able to watch just about everything I’ve wanted to this season that was new. I gave a lot of things a try, a lot of which I regret heavily, but I think I found the few new things that I’m going to stick with.
Foremost, I surprisingly enjoyed a newer comedy called Renai Boukun. It was a zany show about a “Shinigami” who is really bad at her job. I mean, a Shinigami who uses her book to get people to fall in love! . . . Except she gets the main characters Yandere stalker to fall in love with him. Hilarity ensues. If you like comedy that’s very self aware of how dumb it is, and pokes fun at itself for how dumb it is, I would recommend it for a good laugh. I at least got my kicks out of it!
On a more serious note, Boku no Hero Academia got a second season that started off with a big bang and I’m loving every second of it. Hell, the third episode got my heart racing and my blood pumping over a simple race! If you loved the first season, get ready for something even better!
Anyway that’s it for me today, Giga-Friends. I hope you have a wonderful day and an even better week! -J.R
