I Apparently “Don’t Even Lift” Bro

And A Few Reasons Why I should. . .

Monday, May 22nd

Hello again, my Giga-Friends! Hope you’re doing well today! At least in better shape than me physically! Note to self, you are not strong enough to try and catch an oven by yourself; next time, find a forklift.

Can I have a sexy cosplaying teacher that gives me massages too? . . .

Yes, my family got a new oven this past week and I got forced enlisted to try and help install it. That was not fun, nor did it involve games and anime! Sadly, the oven slipped when we were carrying it and I took the brunt of the weight while my partner recovered. My body aches bad enough that I need a special massage like Kawakami gives in Persona 5. . .  That would be the life. . .

Speaking of P5, a lot of my friends have been finally finishing it and absolutely love it so far. While the fighting might be the stock-standard “weakness, knock down, all-out-attack” from the previous game(s), the story more than makes up for it. I’m really enjoying trying to unravel the mystery myself and I’m growing increasingly attached to a lot of the characters. Makoto and Futaba, in particular, have really pulled at my heartstrings. The former latter “P” for “Protect”. Would it be too much to ask to get a good anime out of this game?

Speaking of which, I’ve been particularly enjoying a lot of anime this season. While I may have dropped some duds like Re:Creators, and am still watching some disappointing ones like Attack on Titan or Berserk, there are a lot of gems this season.

You look me in the eye and tell me that’s not cute! You can’t!

One I’m particularly enjoying still is Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho or, Grimoire of Zero. It follows a young genius witch named Zero and our main character, a half-man, half-beast who simply goes by “Mercenary”. While, visually, the show is nothing extra special to look at, it does a really good job of bringing the characters to life. It’s a fairly standard fantasy anime about witches vs. the church but I think the characters and their interactions really bring the anime together. Mercenary and Zero have great conversations, and she’s extremely open about how she feels and what she wants and, let me tell you, that is a breath of fresh air. While the Mercenary is less than receptive to her good nature, his “I can’t trust anyone” relationship doesn’t feel angsty or annoying like most romance/shoujo anime. There’s a legitimate reason he can’t seem to trust anyone, and I can’t wait to see it play out in their relationship.

Anyway, that’s it for me today, Giga-Landers! I hope you have a wonderful Monday and an even better week!
