How Much Farming Is “Too Much”. . . ?

Monday, August 21st

Hello again, Giga-Friends! It’s been a crazy couple weeks. I’ve been going through some crazy amount of paperwork since I’ve been accepted at a new job, but still working at my old job. Thankfully that (and my pay) will all change next week. Woo. Going up in the world!

Would you like to know what Nier is? THIS is Nier!

In the meantime, I’ve been playing way too much Fate/Grand Order to be normal because, unfortunately for a lot of us, there are two events happening. And by that, I mean: There is an event happening on the Japanese side, and also an event on the American side. So, with farming at an all time high, I’ve been forgoing a lot of normal human activities, like eating, to play FGO and also to multi-task at playing FFXIV at the same time. Yes, I am that amazing.

On the other hand, it was also my birthday yesterday. So there’s that.

I’ve been on a binge lately trying to finish all my unfinished console games to make room for Nier:Automata. I’ve been watching the Super Best Friends play the original Nier back from the PS3/XB360 and having a blast watching them play, but freaking out along with them while who-knows-what is happening in that damn game. There are so many questions that need answering, and so many theories I’ve been wrong about already, that I just can’t stop watching. Thankfully for me, a good friend of mine brought of his copy of Automata for me to borrow. Thank goodness for friends.

Also, something about an eclipse? What was the sun again. . . ?

Look at the adorable children and compare them to the hideous monster in the back! Adorably terrifying!

Another anime I’ve been enamoured with recently is Made in Abyss. While it suffers from a similar bout of discrimination that Princess Principle does, I can assure you it is amazing on so many levels. The reason I compare it to Princess Principle is because they both have an artstyle that makes them feel sort of childish or girly when they are anything but.

Made in Abyss is about an island built around a hole that goes straight down beneath the crust of the earth that has been called the “Abyss”. Weird animals, strange relics,  and phenomena are discovered in the abyss everyday. The main character, Riko, is an orphaned girl who is forced to work in the abyss to make money for the orphanage. But, she dreams of going all the way to the bottom of the abyss to follow in her mother’s footsteps and to become a great explorer like she was. However, no one can go to the abyss and come back unscathed as it places a curse on all the people who enter and leave.

This is so ridiculously dark beneath the surface that it begs to be watched!

The show is adorably terrifying, emphasis on terrifying, and what really makes the show is how great the backgrounds are. It really gives you that feel that everything there is real, and that you’re in this horrendous place along with them. I highly recommend watching the show, regardless of likes or dislikes, to at least try to find something just a little bit different.

Anyway, that’s it for me today, Giga-Landers! I hope you have a wonderful day and an even better week! -J.R
