(Fat Rolls I Gained From Eating and Rolls From Mobile Games. . .)

Hello again my Giga-Friends! I hope you had a wonderful Veteran’s Day weekend! If you work in retail, then you have my condolences . . . I know that pain. I hearty “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart to any vets out there today as well!
Back on topic to the things you (don’t) care about now. I haven’t too much time recently to be as nerdy as I’d like. Sans for watching some new anime, I’ve been ridiculously busy with the family these past couple weeks, but it’s all good because anime makes it that way. Actually, I ended up throwing a surprise birthday party for my mom since she spent most of her actual birthday in the hospital with my dad. I can’t say it was the biggest and best thing in the world, but at least I was able to surprise her . . . and also cook 7lbs of pork butt. Before you ask: Yes, it was delicious (I am amazing). No, there are no leftovers.
Thankfully I’ve moved back to day shift for my work schedule and that has afforded me a lot of time for the new event in the U.S version of Fate/Grand Order, “GudaGuda Honnouji”! The American devs have genuinely gotten much better at writing and fine-tuned their comedy which made this event turn out much better than the previous two. Such lines as “All according to keikaku”, or “I am just a witch and a waifu . . .” were written and, true to my trash nature, filled me with giggles and glee. While I wasn’t able to roll Souji Okita, I did fill my roster with gold Archers like the free copy of Oda Nobunaga! Thank the welfare for that!
NOW ON TO ANIME!
Many of you have probably heard a lot of talk and gibberish about the new anime Black Clover being bad. Well, I finally had a chance to sit down and watch three episodes, and let me tell you, it was not all “talk and gibberish”. EVERYONE WAS RIGHT, RUN AWAY!
Even popular YouTubers/critics Mother’s Basement and Gigguk have eviscerated this anime to oblivion, leaving me with nothing but scraps to pick apart. I’m honestly surprised at how bad the show was, especially because of how much, and how well, it was marketed. Even a month or so before it aired, people were mentioning how good the manga is and how even non-readers were excited for the show. Hell, some people were talking about why it would be a success before it even aired! But, true to its shounen nature, Black Clover is more about children running and shouting (emphasis on the shouting) than it is about development or world building.
Honestly, the anime feels like a lot of popular anime tropes thrown into a pile and picked out one-by-one and made into a story, rather than a story based on an original concept (because it’s not an original concept). I genuinely advise that you stay away from this show as there are much MUCH better things airing this season (Inuyashiki and Mahoutsukai no Yome to name a couple).
Anyway, that’s it for me today, Giga-Friends. I hope you have a wonderful day and an even better week! -J.R
