The Week That Got Worse and Then Better
How FFXIV Became A Bullet Hell

Hello again, Giga-Friends! I hope you’re doing well today as always! I genuinely hope your week is going well too! My week last week . . . oh boy, was it a week. Started off well enough, but my Tuesday spiralled out of control! Started with a brown out that shut off my alarm clock and phone (that was plugged in then shut off), so my alarms didn’t wake me up. I ended up waking up an hour later than I should have on the day I had my inspection, of all days! Worse yet, on the way out the door, my mom’s cat flew out from under the couch and tripped me: I knocked my arm out of place on the piano and hit my face on the couch on the way down! It was a good day.
On the flip side, I was able to go to a Yakiniku place in town with my buddies and literally eat and drown my problems away. I don’t know if you have any Yakiniku or Yakitori places in your area, but I highly suggest checking them out if they have high quality meat. Just be sure to have a few extra dollars in your bank account when you go . . . Some jerk might have eaten about $50-$60 worth of meat and beer that night. . .
On a more nerdy note, the new patch for Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood just released. This time it features a new boss fight story line that involves the Four Guardians (Byakko, Genbu, etc.) and was extremely fun. It seems to have taken a small idea from Nier/Nier: Automata in that it treats several parts of the fight like a “bullet hell”. It was insanely fun, though, and I recommend checking it out with some friends, blind, if you can! Also, the new raid was Final Fantasy VI themed and fighting a Ghost Train and Kefka was ridiculously fun!
NOW ON TO ANIME!
I’ve finally finished all my Initial Anime Reviews for the Winter 2018 season! It always feels really good to finish those, even though I’m sure only about five people read them.
Of course, I talked about how much I love Violet Evergarden and Darling in the FranXX, but I also talked about another anime I picked for myself called Beatless. I really wish I could talk about what the point of the show was, but I really have no idea after watching three episodes. . . It stars another beta-male protagonist who is saved by the strongest robot girl in a group of illegal robot girls. My biggest complaint was how obvious the directors wanted everyone to have the biggest boner for the main robot girl and spent an entire episode showing off her body during a freakin’ fashion show.
It definitely had potential, I even point out some personal preferences on where a change in direction could have helped it a lot, but Beatless really just doesn’t strike a cord on any spectrum with it’s boring characters, bland character designs, and non-existant story.
Anyway, that’s it for me Giga-Landers! I hope you all have a great day and an even better week! -J.R
