Monday, June 8th –

Hello again, Giga-Friends! Last time I promised I wouldn’t freak out about FF XIV’s expansion this time around, so I’ll keep it short! The early access for Heavensward starts next Friday, so I’m majorly hyped up! I’m thinking about streaming some of it when I start up . . . I wonder if anyone would watch?

My thoughts on the Steam Summer Sale.

My thoughts on the Steam Summer Sale.

Anyway, the Steam Summer sale is starting very soon, and I’m also hyped up for that! If you have anything on your wishlist, it will most likely be on sale! Heck, last year I got about 10 games for $50! I’m not sure why they do it, but I’m glad they do. It helps people like you and me, the poor people of society, to get games that would normally be beyond our budget! But, be careful not to over extend your funds! Just because a Triple-A title game is only FIVE DOLLARS, doesn’t mean you need to buy it! . . . you’d just be dumb not to! Just kidding. Seriously though, if you’re not careful, you’ll end up spending a lot more money than you intended with more games to play than one human can handle.

Finally, I’m getting pumped for Anime Expo 2015! This is the one time of year where my friends and I can get out of town . . . but still sort of “in town” . . . and let loose and hang with our weeab-uddies! I dunno, still working on the name amalgamations. Anyway, we usually stay in Little Tokyo, a couple miles from the convention center, and just gorge on food, drinks, and nerd material. If you’ve never tried it, I suggest doing so either this year or next. The Miyako is a perfect hotel for that purpose alone. It’s dead center in the middle of Little Tokyo, it’s near two shopping malls with amazing restaurants, and we can get mochi there. That’s what sold Dustin on it!

Anyway, I know it’s a little pervy, but I’m looking forward to seeing the Fakku crew and Toshio Maeda, creator of La Blue Girl (WHATEVER THAT IS!? Some kind of Chinese cartoon, right!? *nervous laugh*) again. I’m hoping my dreams will come true this year and they will finally have a joint panel on the wonders of . . . *ahem* . . . men’s health(?). Also, I love just looking around too. I love to people watch, and nothing makes that more fun than cosplayers. Though, I think I’m done proposing to beautiful women, I might be a little old for that now. . .

NOW ON TO ANIME! *Spoiler free, of course!*

Total Bro-crush on Souma.

Total Bro-crush on Souma.

AAAAGGGGHHH!!! I am just in love with Shokugeki no Souma! I can’t help but get hyped up for that show every week! No other show gets my heart pounding like that one does! Plus, it still makes me laugh like a giddy child! Every week reminds of why Souma is such an amazing main character and I love him more every week I see him! His audacity coupled with his sense of creativity really makes the anime feel whole. It’s hard to explain in a tiny paragraph, and I’ll do better in my final review, but so many elements make it feel like more than “just another anime in high school”. This past week’s episode, while not heavy on the cooking, builds up a lot of background for some of the characters, and makes you hate those snotty elitist cooks even more! Plus, it’s set up for an amazing Food Battle next week that I can barely stand to wait for!!!

Yorozuya Gin-Chan!

Yorozuya Gin-Chan!

You know, despite comparing a lot of things to Gintama, I very rarely talk about it. Which, is kind of odd because the new season just started! . . . 6 weeks ago. Now called Gintama° (no I don’t know how to pronounce the dot), it has brought back the slew of ridiculosity for which it is known for. The first two episodes alone had me in stitches, and the rest keep with that silly comedy/slice of life deal it almost portrays. Gintama really isn’t for everybody, I can honestly say that regardless of how much I love it. But, it does have some serious moments that really make it worth the watch. I don’t suggest starting from the beginning, unless you have 280 episodes worth of time to waste, but I do suggest finding out which parts have the serious storylines in them and watching those. They are absolutely, positively, beautiful works of art.

Anyway, that’s it for me today Giga-Friends! I hope you have a great day and an even better week! -J.R
