I Already Miss You Kojima-senpai!

Monday, July 27th –
Hello again, Giga-Friends! I hope you’re all doing well this week! Regardless of how . . . MONDAY it is.
Anyway, I’ve been wiling away the hours at work this past week and haven’t had any time off. It’s getting frustrating but, hey, I’m $9.00 closer to that PS4! Hurray for minimum wage! I’ve been craving Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pains for several months now and I refuse to play it on anything less than true HD! Especially since this is going to be Kojima’s last MGS. Since I work at GameStop, I see and hear commercials for it all the time on our T.V (I call it the “indoctrination machine”) so I can’t help but get overly hype about it . . . maybe the indoctrination is working. . . That being said, I’m starting to feel the same way about Konami as I do about Capcom: that they’re a bunch of scumbags. I’m just waiting for MGS V to release, then watch Hideo Kojima hit Kickstarter with a big idea, make millions, then become successful all over again, just like Keiji Inafune.
Back to my original point: I WANT A PS4~! David and I are huge fans of Sengoku Basara (Titled Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes or Devil Kings in English), and Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi comes out very soon. Why wouldn’t I want to play as a man with SIX SWORDS!? With TWO SPEARS!? Or a man that drinks tea to become god-like! HE DRINKS TEA! . . . Maybe I’m focusing on the wrong thing there. Anyway, It’s an insanely fun series akin to Dynasty Warrios; that is, you vs. an entire army. But, this game is Dynasty Warriors on speed. It’s absolutely insane, the characters are highly different from their real-world counterparts, and please don’t use this as a history book; you’ll get every question wrong. I suggest checking it out if you ever get the chance.
NOW ON TO ANIME!
SHOKUGEKI NO SOUMAAAAAAAAAAAA! Just kidding. But, it is good. Go watch it.
There is some pretty awesome new anime this season and, as soon as I get a day off I’ll be writing about them. But, there are a few gems right off the bat! Gangsta, Gakkou Gurashi, and Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai are all really good. Also, yes. We know that’s a mouthful. Gangsta is almost like a cross between Baccano! and Black Lagoon in that is a very morbid gangster-style action anime but with all the action-packed anime fights we want. The music is outstanding and the setting just as good, I highly suggest checking this out if you want something dark and absolutely AMAZING! Shimoneta is basically about a completely “pure” Japan that is monitored so thoroughly that even swearing is against the law. The main character is basically a “terrorist” who goes around shouting profanity and spreading lewd pictures. There are so many dick jokes in this show that it keeps me in stitches 90% of the time.
Please. Please watch at least the first episode of Gakkou Gurashi. This show may be very girly and fluffy and funny, but this show is a testament to how much our brain controls what we can see, hear and feel more than we realize. It’s proof that our minds are more powerful than the world around us and I highly suggest watching the first episode at least just to see what it’s about. I will definitely be doing an article on it this week. DO NOT READ any reviews on the show before hand! It will definitely ruin the point of the show! Except for mine of course.
Anyway, that’s it for me today Giga-buddies. I hope you have a great Monday and an even better week! -J.R
