Sometimes, you just need to look like Elvis and DANCE!

Hello again my Giga-Friends! J.R here again a few days late! I apologize to the . . .  three . . . four(?) of you that read these tired old things. We had a bit of an issue with the site and I’ve also been dealing with sick family members. Makes me appreciate the parents all that much more though. How they hell did they deal with that -all- the time back then? Obviously superpowers.

In the meantime I was finally able to sit down and start playing Bravely Default! I know, I know. Why did it take me so long to pick it up!? Especially when it got that Square-Enix hack, Yoichi Wada, fired? The answer. .  . I don’t know. It’s very well done and pays a strong homage to the earlier Final Fantasy games that let you pick and choose jobs at your fancy. I’m barely started and I’ve already unlocked about 6-7 jobs, one being a Merchant! Why yes, I DO love money! It’s use of classic jobs and creative new jobs is a huge selling point for me.

Ladies: the most important thing to Ringabel, is ladies. All of them.

Ladies: the most important thing to Ringabel, is ladies. All of them.

The story is already something similar to the old FFs, what with crystals and all, but the dialogue is a lot more fun. Especially when Ringabel joins your party! Ladies, if an English-accented, sweet-talking, boyish philanderer doesn’t get you your jollies, I don’t know what will! When everything is always about the ladies, you just know it’s going to be a fun time! Seriously though, I’m already really enjoying the game and look forward to playing it way more if time allows.

Speaking of Bravely Default, its sequel, Bravely Second, has been in the works for awhile now. That being said, I may have found a bit of bad news regarding its localization. I found an article regarding it’s localization and, much like Fire Emblem Fates, it seems that the translation team is hellbent on butchering it. Though I don’t have a lot of sources to base this on, I can only hope this article is proven false in the near future. . .

NOW ON TO ANIME!

Boku Dake ga Inai Machi . . . Watch it. I’ve never watched a show that made me smile so much from the bottom of my heart, but stabbed at that same point with a hot knife so relentlessly. I just . . . I mean . . . JUST WATCH IT!

Other than that, I’ve finally caught up on the military anime GATE. I was skeptical to watch it at first because I was sure the Japanese nationalistic part would turn me off, but I was damn wrong. 2nd Lt. Itami, who is a huge self-admitted otaku, commands a unit in the “Special Region” that is rife with elves, cat girls, bunny girls, dragons, magic, and anything else you might find in a fantasy setting! When stuff like this mixes, usually the side with guns and rockets loses. Not GATE. Oh no. A bunch of dudes with swords literally show up to a gun fight with knives and get mowed the hell down in minutes. I find this oddly entertaining! That aside, I’m really loving the characters and their interactions.

Rory best girl.

Anyway, that’s it for me today Giga-Friends. I hope you have a great day and an even better week! -J.R
