Giga-Journal: Missed A Lot of Mondays . . . Monday!

Monday, July 11th

Hello again, Giga-Friends! I apologize for the second two week delay . . . or third? In a row.

My little Man, Happy.

My little Man, Happy.

Other than Anime Expo happening, I had to put my cat down right before we left. My cat, Happy, may not have been old, but he made a great impact on my life. So I had to recuperate from that before leaving to Anime Expo. Anyway, I don’t want to make anyone feel bad, because it’s already making me feel bad!

Anime Expo last week was really fun. It was the first year since I joined Gigaventure that I didn’t have to be someone’s camera-bitch or pack mule. If you’ve met or had photos taken by us, you could recognize me because I was the guy carrying about three or four backpacks and extra camera equipment in the corner. . . Anyway, we wandered around a lot and I spent a lot more money this year than I have any other year since I started attending. What with my awesome and sexy Tohsaka Rin figure and all that. Oddly, this year, the Artist Alley was downstairs . . . in a parking garage. Which sounds like a bit of a slight, but was actually probably better for them in the long run. Although the artists were a bit out of the way for everyone, they had a lot more room to do their thing. Though, we were still squished in like sardines most of the time anyway . . . so I don’t know if I can say it worked.

MY AX SWAG! And yes. Those are two dakimakura covers: Rin and Emilia.

On the other hand, my friends and I attended a small JAM Project concert for the Western release of One Punch Man! Man, if you ever get a chance to see JAM perform live, I highly suggest you do so. They were great in concert and I had a great time! Would have been better if nerds knew how to act at concerts, but it was amazing nonetheless. P.S Sitting down and being quiet is not how one attends a concert. A concerto maybe, not a rock band.

Also, I finished the newly released Mighty No.9 and all I can say is, “It’s definitely made by Keiji Inafune”. I might do a small review on it, time permitting, but who knows at this point?

NOW ON TO ANIME!

I was able to catch up on anime this past weekend and was completely blown away by Re:Zero‘s newest episode. I’m not saying I’m squeamish, but I definitely almost freaked out a lot during the end of the episode.

I’ll be trying to finish up some Spring’s anime reviews in a little bit here, but I don’t think I’ll be doing more than two or three this time around. Particularly because Kiznaiver was a bit disappointing for me.

This show is so damn cute that it hurts.

Since Spring anime has ended, that means Summer anime has finally started and that means one thing. . .  NEW SHOKUGEKI NO SOUMA! Oh, and some other stuff I guess. I had a chance to check out a small slice-of-life/comedy called amaama to Inazuma and boy did it grab my heart with all the ferocity of a lion, but the softness of a chinchilla. GOD, IT HURT! It’s about a recently widowed man with a per-school daughter. It follows their everyday life and how he takes care of her while working and learning to be a better father. It’s so damn sweet it might give me diabetes. I really suggest it for people who like slower or slice-of-life anime.

Anyway, that’s it for me today Giga-Landers. I hope you have a great Monday and an even better week! -J.R
